Industrial Rotary Screw Air Compressors
Rotary screw compressors are a common choice for continuous industrial compressed air demand. A good selection balances required flow, pressure, available power, demand variation and air-quality requirements.
Fixed Speed or Variable Speed?
Fixed-speed compressors can be appropriate for relatively stable loads. Variable-speed drive systems may reduce unnecessary unloaded operation where demand varies, but the energy case depends on the measured load profile, minimum speed, control strategy and system layout.
Sizing Factors
- Free air delivery at the required working pressure
- Daily and weekly air demand profile
- Pressure drop across air treatment and distribution
- Ambient temperature, ventilation, available electrical supply
- Maintenance access, noise limits and lifecycle costs
Service & Air Quality
Consider filtration, condensate management, dryer sizing and the manufacturer’s service intervals as part of the compressor specification. Oversizing may increase off-load power consumption and capital cost.
